INSTITUT DE VARGA

This is the kind of place often recommended by word of mouth, as slimming—its specialty—is a deeply personal matter. The institute itself is discreet, tucked away at the back of a charming, quintessentially Parisian courtyard. Here, Gilda Manigold practices a method inherited from Pascale Varga: Corpotherapy, a holistic approach that teaches us to care for ourselves by combining three essential principles.

First, listening: we each have a unique way of inhabiting, sensing, or even visualizing our bodies, so discussing this is essential—both before starting any treatment and throughout the course of care.

Next, nutritional rebalancing. Through personalized guidance, Gilda helps individuals regain their bearings regarding food, understand their body’s needs, and establish lasting habits that support their well-being. This nutritional coaching is part of a process of dietary re-education, where—week by week—one learns to adopt new habits and fundamentally transform one’s relationship with food.

Finally, there are the massages, delivered with a level of precision and care that allows us to gradually reclaim the body we sometimes mistakenly view as an enemy. These targeted massages can also be enjoyed independently of any nutritional rebalancing program.

The Abdominal Detox Treatment specifically targets the abdominal area—a zone often prone to tension and imbalances linked to diet and stress. It combines deep tissue massage, fascial mobilization, and an introduction to Noli—a gentle practice designed to release blockages, stimulate digestion, and reconnect you with your internal sensations. This treatment delivers an immediate sense of lightness and well-being, making it the perfect complement to a balanced diet and sustainable weight-loss journey.

The Face Lift Treatment combines facial and scalp massage, facial drainage, and face yoga exercises, while also stimulating the vagus nerve—essential for soothing the nervous system. It provides an immediate lifting effect and a healthy, radiant glow. The session also includes simple techniques you can practice at home to prolong the treatment’s benefits. It is a comprehensive experience that harmonizes body and mind, true to the principles of body therapy.

The “Stretch and Flow” Leg Focus treatment restores lightness and fluidity to tired legs. It combines targeted drainage, stretches that mobilize the waist and legs, and the stimulation of foot reflexology points. This combination boosts circulation, releases tension, and leaves your legs feeling instantly lighter.

Gilda Manigold also organizes personalized weekend wellness retreats in Dieppe at a dream location; you can discover the program on the Institute’s website.

SPA CLEMENS

This is an address that did not remain confidential for long, as its success was so rapid, but the place and the treatments provided there are still unique and for us they are precious. In Latin Clemens means Calm (and beyond that Well-being), and this is the whole spirit that the spa team decided to give to the place by offering us aquatic experiences that allow us to really let go. Water being the element that soothes the mind and body par excellence, our original element, therefore certainly the most therapeutic.

The spa pools, which can be booked solo or as a duo, are located in the incredible setting of 18th century cellars. Here, we whisper to respect the very intimate space, lit by candlelight. It is in the freshwater pool and its 35-degree water that floating massage, sophrology or aquatic osteopathy are provided. The experience is astonishing: the practitioner’s movements are so fluid that at times it seems as if the body is establishing a kind of choreography, the amplitude of the movements erasing one by one all the tensions that we could previously feel. We then enter a bubble of well-being that makes us dive into the heart of ourselves, in an almost meditative state.

But beyond this muscular and psychological relaxation, aquatic massage also improves blood circulation and reduces pressure on the joints. It is therefore recommended for all ages and, in fact, the Clemens spa has created an aquatic treatment especially for babies aged 4 to 12 months (the spa is reserved for them in the morning). Accompanied by one or two parents and a practitioner, the child discovers water at an ideal temperature, which provides deep relaxation. Expectant mothers are also fond of this therapy.

The salt water pool offers completely different sensations: the two tons of Epson salt that were poured into it allow us to remain weightless in the water, to float in the candlelight. The experience, once again unique, also helps reduce muscle and joint pain, as well as stress and fatigue, thanks to the magnesium contained in the salt, which detoxifies and remineralizes.

And the Spa doesn’t stop there, also offering a menu of land treatments with tailor-made relaxing treatments for the body, Kobido massages for the face and Detox massages, including lymphatic drainage for the body and face, designed by Renata Franca. Treatments that can be combined with aquatic treatments for a real fitness boost.

LA MAISON du TUI NA

A nice lounge, simple and very professional, nestled close to the Eiffel Tower. Masseurs trained in the technique of Tui Na, which has its origins in China, almost a thousand years ago, and allows to find a better flow of energy and blood.

In front of a delicious smoked tea, we attentively listen to the explanations of our masseuse: the meridians are connected to all the organs of the body and ensure the regulation of energies. Thus, if the meridians are blocked, it creates imbalances that lead to stress, fatigue, and disease. The applications of Tui Na far exceed the simple relaxation of a usual massage. Our masseuse then takes the time to explain in detail how she will proceed and we discover the different oils she will use. To start, she identifies the zones of tension by kneading the back and the neck and then loosens the knots one by one with a deep massage. It connects by stimulating energy points to restore circulation in the meridians. The energy is released to bring us a well-being that should last much longer than a few days.

ASSA

The Japanese refinement, the relaxation methods of the country of the Rising Sun, we adore and we do not ask better to do good. The star here is of course Shiatsu, this massage that prevents and treats our little sores by rebalancing our energies.

The place is divinely serene, we almost want to whisper to not disturb the calm. To begin the ritual we release his feet in flip flops and we talk a little about us, our aches: aches, fatigue, stress … then we put on a Japanese cotton pajamas and go for an hour of pressure on the body, along the meridians connected to the organs, in which circulates all our vital energy.

The practitioner who treats us (yes, we can talk about care) then gives us her diagnosis: the areas she had to treat in depth, the more sensitive areas or those to be treated in the long term. Besides, no massage is like another, the gestures are adapted to each and his needs.

After a few delicious cups of tea to end the session gently, you feel really soothed, almost astonished sensations felt, with the impression of having gone to the basics and having not only treated his body, but rather indeed to have rebalanced the energies between the body and the spirit. And over the hours, days, the benefits continue to be felt: we let go and we feel a real physical and psychological well being.

CIRE TRUDON

The scents of the Dyptique Candles have become indispensable, but there are other candles which are in harmony with them to give places we love a genuine character. Cire Trudon, a Royal Manufacture with an ancestral knowledge, which is the oldest candle factory in the world (1643) created them ! Here the perfumes are not identifiable at first “smell” but there are unique mixes which all reinterprete a moment of history and bring the legend of French taste to light : Empire, Pondichéry, Chandernagor, Odeur de Lune, Odalisque or Carmelite, Empire, Dada…

And today a collection of eau de parfum, kept in precious bottles, with original and heady fragrances, imagined by perfumers Antoine Lie, Yann Vasnier and Lyn Harris: Elae, Aphédie, Médie, Bruma, Deux, Révolution, Mortel and Black Mortal. Fragrances that also tell a whole story and embody a personality more than a genre.
