GUCCI

Founded in 1921 by Guccio Gucci, a Florentine living in London, Gucci began as a travel accessories brand recognizable by its three-color stripe (green-red-green). In the 1960s, loafers, scarves, and bags appeared with the new GG logo. The House opened boutiques worldwide and in 1990, launched its ready-to-wear line with Tom Ford as creative director. Like Versace at the time, Gucci marked the revival of Italian-born design with the return of flashy, highly sexualized fashion, reinterpreting retro classics for Gucci. After the exuberant style of Alessandro Michele, that of Sabato de Sarno who brings back the red “Ancora”, the “Flora” pattern, the “Jackie” bag and always the monogram and the famous red and green stripes, it is the turn of the artistic director Demna (Balenciaga) to breathe new life into the biggest Italian luxury house.
