GUCCI

Founded in 1921 by Guccio Gucci, a Florentine living in London, Gucci began as a travel accessories brand recognizable by its three-color stripe (green-red-green). In the 1960s, loafers, scarves, and bags bearing the new GG logo appeared. The House opened boutiques worldwide and, in 1990, launched its ready-to-wear line with Tom Ford as creative director. Like Versace at that time, Gucci marked a revival of Italian design with the return of bold and highly sexualized fashion, reinterpreting retro classics for Gucci. After the exuberant style of Alessandro Michele, that of Sabato de Sarno which brings back the “Ancora” red, the Flora motif, the Jackie bag and always the monogram and the famous red and green stripes, it is now the turn of artistic director Demna (Balenciaga) to give a new lease of life to the greatest Italian luxury house.
