Jean-Bernard Gillot is first and foremost a librarian, but he also infuses his bookshop with his passion for photography and travels. He also regularly organises exhibitions on modern and contemporary photographers.

MUSEE RODIN
Situated in the Hotel de Biron, the Musée Rodin is also an open-air museum where the public can turn round the sculptures, admire them and touch them. For lovers, the paths of the garden are an ideal place for a walk.

From the beginning of the 90s, Lélia Mordoch began to exhibit the works of GRAV artists (Garcia Rossi, Le Parc, Morellet, Sobrino, Stein and Yvaral). From Geometric Art, to Digital Art, to Street Art and Fractal Art, she presents all media, paper, painting, sculpture, video, assemblages and installations. His choices bring together several generations of contemporary artists from all walks of life. Today the gallery presents the work of artists recognized as emerging. From François Morellet to Miguel Chevalier, from Julio Le Parc to Michel Paysant, she constantly innovates while remaining faithful to her aesthetic line: abstraction, kinetic art and, above all, poetry.

The Galerie Le Minotaure, created in 2002, is situated Rue des Beaux-Arts, at the former address of the famous bookshop from whom it preserved its name. His founder, Benoit Sapiro, is fascinated by Russian and Central Europe artists of the first half of the 20th century. Benoit Sapiro dedicated himself to helping rediscover the first half of the 20th Century Russian and Central Europe artists for more than twenty years, with a constant and passionated action.

Aimé Maeght (1906-1981) was at the same time an art dealer, a publisher, a movie producer and an art collector as well. He exhibited Braque, Matisse, Léger, Mirò, Tàpies, Chillida, Chagall, Kandinsky, Kelly, Calder, Giacometti, Bram van Velde, Alechinsky Rebeyrolle, Adami, Monory or Ting. With 12 000 titles published, Maeght is now recognized as the most important editor of lithographs and engravings in the world.
The gallery is managed by Isabelle Maeght. The exhibitions enable visitors to see the works of historic artists, but also to discover more contemporary ones : Gérard Gasiorowski, Marco Del Re, Selma Gurbuz, Aki Kuroda, Manolo Valdes or Ernst Scheidegger. The gallery still publishes many books, reproductions, and engravings (prints).

LA MAZARINE
Fine Arts, philosophy, theatre, literature, poetry, history, but also medicine or feminism, the Librairie La Mazarine is a must, especially for rare or old books. Founded in 1946, it is now directed by Pierre Durieu, very attached to primitive arts and contemporary art. The bookstore also carries out appraisals of old books with an extraordinary eye and meticulousness.

This great place was opened almost one century ago by Sylvia Beach. She was the first one to publish “Ulysse” by James Joyce or to sell banned books in England and in the United States such as “Lady Chatterley’s lover”. During this period, the shop was considered as the centre of American English culture in Paris. Hemingway, Ezra Pound, Fitzgerald, Gertrude Stein or James Joyce stayed there regularly. George Whitman took over from Sylvia Beach in 1951 and then it was the turn of the Beat Generation’s writers to take possession of the premises.
Today, Whitman’s daughter, Sylvia, manages the bookshop which is still a landing place for many travelers of the whole world who can sleep at Shakespeare and Co in exchange for working a few hours there. Students can consult thousands of books, new ones, old ones, and even rare ones, which are piled up and cover all the walls and the shelves.

Publishers specialized in art, fashion and decoration, Martine and Prosper Assouline decided in 2005 to open a bookshop that combines Culture and Luxury, books and objects. We can find there exclusive accessories, curios, personalized gifts … they have opened a new bookshop with the same concept in NYC, at the Plaza Hotel.
